Sometimes I Don’t Feel Up to the Task, and Then I Find the Weirdest Inspiration
I mean, I have a built-in soapbox, and my life has been filled with soundtracks, but this guy… This guy had a soapbox too, a commercial for Glade candles it appears.
Here We Go!
What else do I have in the way of inspiration? Don’t ask, but I’ll tell you anyway.
Nothing by the Beatles apparently, blocked here in Panama. But everywhere else you can surely find John Lennon’s “Imagine” easily, and I gotta say, it brings tears after all these years.
Here are the lyrics at least:
Hmm. Appears I can link the video too. Ha Ha, Panama!
Imagine!
Well, hell. Now I’m Emboldened, as the Illiterati would say.
Or as my generation would say, bring it on! (We of the Woodstock generation, 1969, our lives a living soundtrack.) Not illiterate, though we were (retroactively) later called, “Yew long-haired hippies!” which was said with a snarl and a redneck accent.
So, onward and emboldened:
The words, the lyrics mattered, no doubt. Everything in the world and universe was one way or another explained. Like Pink Floyd did it.
A hundred thousand years ago Pink Floyd wouldn’t have needed explanation. Think of the term, “rock band.” The stone-age appelation isn’t inappropriate. All humans were environmental scientists; it was required to stay alive. And the singers who joined the campfire, like Pink Floyd, held a special place, not in the tribe, but essential to its functioning!
I sure hope all this crap works after I hit “publish!”
Ah, hell. I’m having a good time anyway. Now… what’s next?
I think I’ll leave out the 2021 inauguration spectacle. It’s an amazing miracle all by itself, and 10 hours long, and more important than anything else I’ve ever seen. Or at least, seen recently. So, forgodsakes, watch that video, the one with Tom Hanks presiding!
Well, actually try this one out. They should have put it in the inauguration!
(Hint: I’ve never seen this one before, but it’s worth sharing.)
Oh goodness. This is fun. But let’s go “traditional,” and check out Amazing Grace, ok?
Now I know you won’t believe me that I have video of President Barack Obama singing this song. Actually, he had to convince himself. Listen for yourself. At the beginning he says, “Amazing Grace. . . . Amazing Grace. . . .” Then he sings it, shocking even himself!
Oh, crap. Looks like I need to find something inspirational by White People!
They musta done something…
Okay, I know I already posted a version of this Pink Floyd song. But this one is the one that showcases the “soul” that white people can have!
So I’ll sign off now, with brain damage. Hope you enjoyed the movies…
Fred
