It's all magical thinking, which once was the realm of small children and the religious. It means thinking that something will happen makes it happen.

Another train of thought goes along the lines of "they should do something!" The problem being that the "they" are the people and entities who created these problems in the first place. It's another kind of magical thinking, that God or the government or somebody will figure out what to do and will make it happen.

Meanwhile as we approach 2030 everybody will be (uncomfortably) waiting with bated breath for the magical to happen and suddenly everything just turns out okay, sorry for the scare, folks.

Just calm down.

Well I'm sorry, but I turn 69 this month, and my philosophy is that I'm old enough to die. It's a healthy way to live right now because the bottom line of all the above is that Nero fiddled while Rome burned.

All this magical thinking is the same as Nero fiddling. Suddenly one day in the dead of winter it'll get up to 135° and you'll faint and suddenly be dead.

--------------

End of story.
