This is how I see the problem too. We, the mass of man, have largely done our part. The one-percenters and the politicians they own can now kill us off, given that we have become redundant and largely useless to them.

About fear: yes the fearmongering has been successful. I myself don't feel fear--I was born that way--but I can't launch the revolution, I can't start a new government in the U.S, unless I have a couple more people on my side. Preferably a few more tens of millions of people, but they seem distracted by fear or they have shut down their thinking altogether, or both.

It's good I don't feel fear. Because I fear we're mostly all going to die in the next decade. I probably would regardless because I've grown old.

A super article.

I pretty much agree with everything you've said. Good work.

I've never been a cop but I've chased down bad guys. Bad guys are instinctively scared of me (I'm not gonna tell them I've never even been in a fistfight.) They should be scared.

Thanks for the enjoyable story.

I'm of German heritage from Ohio. Two years ago I couldn't stomach the U.S. any longer and I moved to Panama.

My visa has long since expired, but the government here doesn't seem to want to deport me.

They know and don't care--I'm an illegal alien.

A wonderful essay. Good luck with the "contest."

And thank you. I really enjoyed reading your story.

Well, you've collected a bunch of expat Americans! How fun.

I left the States and moved to Panama about 2 years ago. I really love the Latin way of life. I think the people are pretty happy--it's sometimes hard to decipher latinos.

I absolutely couldn't take the cruelty of the United States anymore. I'm glad I left, and I'm sorry so many haven't.

I hate to comment in a negative way--you've obviously worked hard and thought about these subjects.

But you've used some faulty reasoning and come up with incorrect conclusions.

First you need to define the terms, "nature, wilderness, wild." Nature is a dual sort of term, in one sense it means something possible within the laws of science, and in the other it means your environment usually when contemplating plants, animals and landscape in non-urban settings--in other words wilderness or near-wilderness.

Wilderness is generally an unpopulated (by humans) bit of land, not heavily developed by the activities of man. Many wildernesses…

Never mind Epsilon. It's omega (Ω) you need to avoid. Omega means "the end," as in, "your last day on Earth."

So be afraid--but be afraid of the right thing, eh?

I kinda like deadly microbes. They keep me on my toes, make me feel really alive.

I already had Covid-19--twice! It almost killed me, but hey . . .

Some of my readers don't understand my lightheartedness. It's that I was born with no fear of death--no fear of anything except scorpions.

Fearless Fred in the land of pandemic is not a good match.

Alright, I enjoyed reading your article. And now I bid you Ω Ω Ω Ω The End

Looking at the big picture, and including acts over the last couple of centuries, then yes, Russia broke America. No doubt about that. They broke our educational system first, long ago, and now our political system.

But I have the funniest feeling that America has been doomed regardless. Of course there is no "regardless" possible because the past did happen, but even so there are beliefs and behaviours of Americans that end up being self-destructive.

Not to mention that the form of government, a Republic or a representative Democracy (I admit my ignorance about this stuff), is an outdated and ineffective form of government.

But about them Red Soviets and Trump and all that. Gotta admit it was quite the coup getting Trump into office. Americans are too soft (in the head) to fight off the Russians, whose government really does mean us harm.

Okay, maybe we are or aren't apex species, but we are a local maximum. We're on a hill but heading for another valley--again.

Now hold that thought because it holds a clue to how we might make the evolutionary apex anyway.

You see, regardless of deserving something or not, which is actually irrelevant, we already know the deal we have, everybody knows it.

In terms of people, human beings, is quantity more valuable than quality? Because historically, during primal times for the first Homo sapiens, there were as few as single-digit-million people on the entirety of Earth. We dipped very…

This all is becoming very interesting. It reads like an unrealistic novel, yet is real and really critical. Maybe we won't put the traitors to death, but they can rot in prison instead.

I can't believe that America has gotten so wimpy that it has allowed some of these insurrectionists their freedom for so long.

I left America a year ago — it was getting too crazy. I’ve truly gone native here in rural Panama. I love Latins, and some love me back. I’ll never leave here!
